Restaurant Review: Temptations Sports Bar & Grill, Biloxi MS

[ad_1]

Temptations Food and Spirits is the latest addition to the revival of downtown Biloxi.

Located directly across from the Cathedral Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary on Howard Avenue, Temptations is next to BoHo Biloxi Social House – a deli and wine bar – and Grocery shoppingone of the best vegetarian restaurants around.

It’s pretty amazing to see a part of the city that was dormant come to life, and fingers crossed it becomes the hottest area in town again.

Temptations simply describes itself as “a local restaurant with a great atmosphere”, but it’s also one of the most interesting restaurants I’ve seen in quite a while.

Owner and chef Tina Johnson hails from New Orleans, where she was a bail bondsman and bounty hunter. COVID-19 closed the prisons, so she decided to open a store in town selling chicken and snowballs. She was lucky enough to move her business to Biloxi and jumped on it.

The interior of the restaurant is as unique as the business model. There is a mural on the west wall which is themed around hookahs and killer whales. The opposite wall is bright blue and the floor is white tiles. It may sound strange, but somehow it works.

The menu is as simple as it gets, but with some interesting twists. J

he front page of the menu lists dozens of flavors of sno-balls. The list is truly impressive, with everything from bananas to green apples. Come summer, it will be a hot spot.

The main menu is small, and I would describe it as elevated bar food. There’s a pretty impressive homemade burger, chicken and waffles, cheese-stuffed fries, wings with a handful of sauce, and nachos. Temptations also offers a few specials during the week, like kidney beans and rice with cornbread.

There’s a soul food special every Thursday, including smothered pork chops or oxtails with rice and gravy.

Besides great food, Temptations is a very cool place to have fun. Be sure to check out their Facebook page to keep up with all the happenings. There’s comedy on Monday nights, karaoke on Wednesdays, and a weekly DJ.

Temptations is an interesting place to go for a night out, or just a good homemade burger. Johnson and his staff are super friendly and the place has a relaxed atmosphere and vibe.
