Official opening of the Friendz Sports Bar this weekend, only in El Paso

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — There’s a reason people love the show Friends; fans will now have an excuse to bring their friends or family to dinner at the Friendz with az sports bar.

Hector Mayorga, business partner and chef, wants Friends sports bar to be different from other restaurants in town.

Last year, many restaurants had to close due to the pandemic, and many more changed hands. This business was formerly the El Paso Drafthouse.

Mayorga says he wanted to try his luck and open a restaurant that brings a different atmosphere.

“We saw the need around that area of town, so we wanted something where people can come and relax and have that cozy atmosphere, so that’s what we wanted to create, a bar where anyone can come. relax.” Mayorga said.

The sports bar will feature the “friends” of the show in some of their made-from-scratch dishes, such as Joey’s Nachos and Monica’s Burger. As for the drinks, they have the pivot, no womb, and other drinks named after quotes from the show.

Mayorga is known for creating the menu, he even added a children’s menu for younger guests, the chef says he even expanded it to make it a brunch menu.

“Everything on the menu is going to be homemade, from the fries we cut them ourselves, we cut the tortillas accordingly, turn them into fries. Once we present our brunch menu, we will make the homemade waffles – we bread our own fillets, we cut our own pickles, etc. So we wanted to make sure whatever people were eating would be fresh because you know the fresher the better,” Mayorga said.

Since the pandemic, restaurants have lost workers. However, the chef and business partner was lucky to have a full team, consisting of cooks, servers and bartenders.

The Friendz Sports Bar is now open to the public from 12:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., Sunday to Wednesday. Excluding Mondays until football season, but will have its official grand opening this weekend for Cinco De Mayo.
