Hank’s Sports Bar officially opens at Rumors Deli

CULLMAN, Alabama – Cullman’s newest watering hole, Hank’s Sports Bar, located in the Rumors Deli, is officially open for business after hosting a successful soft opening for members of the Cullman Chamber of Commerce Monday night. Attendees enjoyed menu items including smash burgers, grilled briskets, po’ boys and signature drinks while networking and admiring the new decor.

Opening Hank’s has always been in the plan of owner Aaron Coombs, who shared, “When the opportunity to buy Rumor’s Deli and open Hank’s was good during COVID, but we finally decided to do it and started with the renovation. It was a long process but it was worth it. »

Coombs, along with his right-hand manager Kendrick Boudreaux, has worked to create an atmosphere one would expect in the best sports bars while maintaining the family atmosphere of Rumors Deli for decades. The railing along the bar is a cast iron pipe, original to the historic building, which was found in the basement after the Coombs purchased it. Continuing to pay homage to his new home in Cullman, Coombs proudly showed vintage postcards sent from the town over the past 70 years, arranged and curated by his mother, Jolene.

Their Louisiana roots are evident in Hank’s menu, which includes a roast beef po’boy prepared to the letter of the Boudreaux family recipe. The pair will feature authentic Cajun jambalaya for their Cinco de Mayo celebration on May 5.

Although the Hank’s menu is new, the Rumors Deli menu has remained unchanged due to its overwhelming popularity.

From Thursday to Saturday night there will be live music with many local favorites including Jeremy Johnson, Larry Kotlik and Dale Moore already on the programme. The location boasts eleven televisions, an essential part of any sports bar in our SEC country.

Rumors Deli is open Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The restaurant will be open from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. with very limited menu items available during that time to allow the kitchen to prepare for Hank’s menu. Hank’s Sports Bar is open from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and the drive-thru is open from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for take-out orders.
