A drive along historic Illinois Route 66 guarantees that you will find something unique. Whether it’s a roadside attraction like Henry’s Rabbit Ranch or a museum like the Route 66 Association Hall of Fame & Museum, there’s always a fascinating and nostalgic place to stop along the way. And if you’re hungry, well, there are restaurants you won’t find anywhere else in the world like DeCamp Station, a place to eat, drink, have fun, play sports, and a bit of history.

In these uncertain times, keep safety in mind and consider adding destinations to your bucket-to-visit list at a later date.

DeCamp station is in the small town of Staunton, which was once a colony of coal miners and today has a population of around 5,000.

Once a truck stop, DeCamp Station has finally grown into a unique bar that offers delicious food, drinks and tons of fun, all in a historic setting. Come here to watch or play sports, have food and drinks, and listen to live music on some evenings.

There’s a wide variety of classic American fare on the menu, from wings and pizzas (or “Peetza” as it’s called here) to wraps and fish, and even sirloin dinners. Almost anyone who walks through the doors will find something on the menu that they like.

And, of course, there are burgers as well as salads, fried chicken, shrimp skewers, and even frog legs if you’re feeling adventurous.

Beer can be ordered by the bottle or on tap. Wine and cocktails are also available.

At DeCamp Station, you can choose to sit at the bar or at an indoor table, or on the patio during the warmer months. One of the most unique aspects of this sports bar is the fact that it has sports fields at the back.

Come here on a warm day and you might be able to catch a game of baseball, softball or volleyball played by the locals. You can even play a game with your friends! There are baseball and softball fields as well as volleyball courts on site which is part of what makes this place so fun. On top of that there is also a seasonal bar at the back!
