(ATLANTIC CITY, NJ) — It’s become the star of summer cocktails — a cool, refreshing mojito. This mint rum drink is so popular that it has its own holiday which falls on July 11 every year. Cuba Libre restaurant and rum bar in Atlantic City (inside the Tropicana Casino & Resort) will celebrate National Mojito Day with classic $2 mojitos at the bar during happy hour, which runs from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

All mojitos are made with Cuba Libre white rum, freshly squeezed cane sugar (guarapo), lime juice, mint and a little soda. This rum-based highball is said to have been first concocted in Havana, Cuba, and its origins date back hundreds of years. Apparently, the first mojito was initially a medicinal drink that helped cure tropical diseases and prevent disease, but now it has become one of the most popular drinks in the world!

On National Mojito Day, drink tickets will be handed out at the door to guests 21 and older who join in the happy hour celebration. Limit of one ticket per person, redeemable at the bar for a classic mojito. In addition to the holiday special, regular Monday specials are available all day at the bar and dining room, including $25 classic mojito and sangria pitchers and $30 flavored mojito pitchers.
