PPB said shortly after 11 p.m. on Friday, officers responded to The Wurst bar on East Burnside Street. They found two injured people and provided first aid for trauma until paramedics arrived. Both people were taken to hospital with serious but not life threatening injuries. A third victim was taken to hospital in a private car. This victim was treated and released.

An Instagram post from Bossanova Ballroom, a neighbor of The Wurst, said a red carpet pajama dance party was taking place at the time of filming. The company said it had shut down its event, turned on lights in the house, and part of the gate’s security personnel helped some of the injured. He said that no staff or patrons of the Bossanova ballroom were injured and that he is cooperating with the police investigation.

Police said they had found no suspects or made any arrests. Two bars, both crowded at the time of the shooting, were hit by bullets.

The reinforced community safety team intervened to help with the investigation. Numerous officers intervened to help secure the crime scene, interview victims and witnesses, and locate and collect evidence. The investigation exhausted all of the central compound’s resources and officers were brought in from the northern and eastern constituencies to help with other emergency calls for life safety.
