Utica Sports Bar reopens for the first time since the start of the pandemic


Utica’s favorite sports bar is ready to welcome fans again for the first time since the start of the pandemic.

72 Tavern and Grill, located at the Adirondack Bank Center (Utica Aud) in downtown Utica has not had a sports fan inside since the very early days of the COVID-19 pandemic. They announced the good news on Facebook that they would be happy to open their doors to central New Yorkers again:

After 18 long months, 72 Tavern reopens this Friday, October 8! Reservations are now accepted on OpenTable.

For those who don’t know, OpenTable is a website you can use to reserve tables at local bars and restaurants. It is also very active in downtown New York for a variety of restaurants and bars.

The reopening of 72 takes place on Friday, October 8 and lines up with the Utica Comets preseason game. The bar will serve food until 10 p.m. and the bar will be open until 11 p.m.

Until further notice, 72 will be open Wednesday through Sunday. Here is also an overview of their adjusted schedule:

Wednesday – 4 p.m. – 9 p.m.
Thursday – 4 p.m. – 9 p.m.
Friday – 4 p.m. – 9 p.m.
Saturday – 11 a.m. – 9 p.m.
Sunday – 11 am – 8 pm “

72 Tavern and Grill is named after the 72 cables that have supported the roof of the Utica Aud for over 50 years. 72 has fiber optic streams from sporting events such as all Comets home games, Sunday NFL games, NHL playoffs, March Madness, and fight nights. 72 also has a 30-foot-long bar, 18 TVs, banquettes, communal dining and drinking tables, and more.
