UK campus bar Two Keys Tavern to reopen in new location

Wildcat fans, get ready to watch the football and have a drink at Two Keys Tavern this fall. The longtime college bar is set to reopen in August after filing for bankruptcy and closing due to the COVID pandemic and loss of revenue in 2020.

But it won’t be the place most people know, the one he operated near the University of Kentucky for 66 years at 333 S. Limestone.

The new location will be less than 900 feet from the original location, up the street at 380 S. Limestone between CD Central and Clubhouse, a nightclub that has taken over the former space owned by Pazzo’s Pizza Pub. The new Two Keys is expected to reopen in time for the school year.

According to a press release, patrons can expect to see an upgraded on-campus bar with multiple patios, a rooftop function and an underground faucet room with a hidden entrance opening this winter.

Three months after the sports bar closed, a federal bankruptcy court in Lexington approved an order allowing Sethco, LLC, the company that ran the Two Keys Tavern, to abandon the 333 South Limestone location.

The Two Keys Tavern closed its location at 333 S. Limestone and filed for bankruptcy due to closures and lost revenue amid the coronavirus pandemic in 2020. Now the legendary UK campus bar is returning, but just in down the street at 380 S. Limestone between CD Central and Clubhouse. Sam Mallon [email protected]
