Ruby Q’s Bar is a must visit for Wichita locals – The Sunflower

With the fall semester fast approaching, many WSU students and Wichita residents are looking for the new hot spot to grab a drink and catch a show after a long day of study, work, or whatever. or between the two.

After much research and much trial and error, Ruby Q’s Bar is one of the few drinking establishments in Wichita that not only offers great drinks, service and entertainment, but also a welcoming and safe atmosphere.

Ruby Q’s Bar made its official debut on Wichita’s nightlife scene in early 2022 and since then it hasn’t stopped growing and getting better.

Offering up to two drag shows or live musical performances per month, a night out at Ruby Q’s is a great, inexpensive way to spend an evening. The unique pin-up style and stylish drinks add to the welcoming and flirty vibe.

The employees are some of the most down to earth people in the service industry I have ever met and on my last visit they were very friendly and informative about upcoming events.

On July 22 and 23, Ruby Q’s will host its first-ever burlesque fire pole show and lingerie on ice show starting at 9 p.m. with a $10 admission fee.

I had the pleasure of visiting Ruby Q’s during one of their dinner shows and was amazed by the friendly and consistent customer service, variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, and variety of entertainers.

During the show, a woman next to me couldn’t help bragging happily about her nephew, who was performing in cross-dressing in front of an audience for the very first time.

It was so heartwarming and refreshing to enjoy an evening of drag with different performance styles in a safe and welcoming environment. The performers even had their own space backstage where they could change, relax between sets and more.

Drag show age restrictions vary, but – generally – anyone over the age of 16 is allowed to attend. Tables can be rented in advance or guests are welcome to arrive in the evening and find seats.

When there isn’t any performance at Ruby Q’s, it’s a nice place to relax, play bar games and let off steam.

While the bar has certainly had a few bumps along the way, I’m thrilled to finally see a safe, cohesive and enjoyable bar that offers dozens of opportunities for local drag performers to show off their stuff.
