A YEADON pub has closed for a £ 153,000 transformation with the aim of making it the best sports bar in town.

The Albert in Yeadon is modernized by Heineken

Michelin-starred pubs and bars. It will reopen on October 28 in time for the Halloween celebrations.

The large pub is set up to offer different options for drinkers and includes a gym with billiards and darts, a main bar and a cozy one. The renovation will see the pub completely redecorated, toilets, tables and chairs improved and new furniture added. There will also be a new audiovisual entertainment system for interactive games, quizzes and karaoke, a contactless pool table, six new large HD TVs to show off the sport and a halo dart board. Sports fans have the opportunity to watch different sports, such as rugby and football, broadcast simultaneously on different screens.

Outside, new signage and lighting will be installed and benches will be installed in the yard. When The Albert reopens, flavored gins will be available, an increased wine selection and a wider range of spirits.

The Albert was hired by Gillian Butler, the pub manager for two and a half years. Prior to entering the hospitality industry, she had spent 28 years in the healthcare industry, moving from caregiver to senior executive for a care company overseeing five nursing homes. In the end, she found the demands of the 24/7 job too stressful. Although running her own advertising business was not part of her initial game plan, Gillian’s love for her job in recent years, the pub and the Yeadon community led her to seize the opportunity when the pub became available.

Gillian says, “When I moved to Yeadon, even though I’m not from here, I was made very welcome. It was as if I had lived here forever. I made some great friends and love the atmosphere at the Albert so I don’t want to be anywhere else. Taking on a pub is a challenge, but I have had experience running the pub and most recently excellent training and support so I feel ready for this next adventure.

“We have a lot of regulars and are a huge fan pub for Leeds United. Changes to the decor and the range of drinks will broaden the pub’s appeal, attracting more women and couples. I’m also looking for darts teams for The Albert so get in touch.

Star Pubs & Bars Business Development Director Jon Kelly says, “We are delighted that Gillian has chosen The Albert and that we are investing in it to improve the pub for customers. The combination of an improved environment, better sports equipment and Gillian at the helm with competitively priced drinks will hopefully be a cause for celebration in Yeadon. ”
