Opening of the new Bar Four at The Vaults, Market Place, Bolton

A NEW bar planning to bring ‘live entertainment with a difference’, including house DJs and drag acts, is set to open in Bolton town centre.

The new venue, dubbed Bar Four, will open in the Vaults beneath Bolton’s Market Place shopping center in the heart of the city next month.

The business is run by Bolton Gin Company who already run bars in the borough and owner Paul Welch hopes to bring a new type of venue to the town.

He said: “We will aim to bring live entertainment with a difference, funky house DJs, drag acts, not the typical entertainment of other Bolton bars.

“We want to do things a little differently.”

Mr Welch hopes the new venue will become a staple of Bolton nightlife and can leave his mark on the community by forging links with a wide variety of groups.

He said: “We are looking to work with Bolton Pride, we are working with Rocket, the music charity.

“So we want to work with new bands and young British musicians.”

He added: “That’s why we come in, the Vaults are a beautiful setting and it could be so much more.

“So that’s what we want to do, really bring some of that spirit to Bolton.”

The space in the vaults was previously occupied by The Cave, a wine and cocktail bar which opened in August 2017.

The Bar Four will offer a similar range of drinks, drawing on Bolton’s Gin Company’s experience of running similar venues in Horwich and Ramsbottom.

Mr Welch said: “There will be the same great range of beers as before and we will offer a range of gins, cocktails and wines.

“Obviously there was a bar there before called The Cave, so we’re going to build on that.”

Construction work is underway to complete the finishing touches on the new bar before it opens early next month.

The Bar Four will open in two weeks on Friday April 1st.
