New sports bar brings Las Vegas-inspired experience to Columbus

Complete with TV booths, mussels and a DJ, Parlay Sporting Club + Kitchen offers Short North fans a new sports bar environment.

Jack McKnight, marketing director of Peerless Management Group – which owns Parlay Sporting Club + Kitchen – said the sports bar had been in development for two years before it opened on February 17. He said the venue, located at 570 N. High St., was inspired by Las Vegas Sportsbook, a popular series of sports bars in Las Vegas.

The combination of distinct food options, customer control over televisions and private rooms make Parlay a unique presence in Columbus, McKnight said.

“It’s a bit of an upscale sports bar where you can have a nice dinner while you watch a game,” McKnight said. “I would say we are one of the real sports bars in the area.”

McKnight said Parlay offers various amenities such as TV booths and a total of 100 TVs. Booths allow customers to control their own TVs to watch any game they want. He said one of Parlay’s goals is for customers to have a great experience no matter where they are seated.

“We don’t want there to be a bad seat in the house,” McKnight said. “Whether you’re sitting at the bar or with a group eating at a table, you’ll have plenty of TVs around you, and we’ve set it up so you can watch any game you want.”

McKnight said Parlay tries to focus primarily on local teams, such as Ohio State Sports and the Columbus Blue Jackets, but they also show national events, such as March Madness games and UFC fights.

Four private rooms are available to reserve in advance for major sporting events, and McKnight said customers can place custom food and drink orders in advance. He said these rooms all include TVs in addition to a game room complete with Skee-Ball, darts and a table pong game.

Adam Solomon, chief operating officer of Peerless Management Group, said Parlay’s dining options include elevated sports bar fare, with a particular emphasis on mussels, as well as various sandwiches, burgers and salads.

“The mussels are the restaurant’s signature, which are Belgian-style mussels, which means they all use beer,” Solomon said. “Wagyu pigs in a blanket are also a restaurant signature, and our two wagyu burgers are things people really enjoy.”

Parlay also offers “Boozy Buckets,” which consist of three canned liquor and three 50-milliliter liquor bottles, according to the sports bar. website.

While people of all ages are always welcome at Parlay, Solomon said the venue often transforms into a bar environment after 10 p.m. with the arrival of a DJ who plays until closing time.

“It definitely progresses as the night progresses to the point where we have a DJ,” Solomon said. “It turns into a really fun party.”

Solomon said the team’s goal behind Parlay was not only to be successful with the Columbus community, but also to expand to other places in Ohio, especially Cincinnati.

“We are definitely looking to open more Parlays in the Ohio area and beyond,” Solomon said. “But Columbus will always be the flagship and the home base. This is where it all starts and ends for us.

The Parlay Sporting Club + Kitchen is open Monday to Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. and Thursday to Sunday from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m., depending on its location. website. Reservations for tables and private rooms can also be made on its website.
