Mass shooting at Hampton County bar, no arrests yet: SC cops

At least nine people were shot overnight at a nightclub, according to the South Carolina Division of Law Enforcement.

As of Sunday afternoon, no one in the shooting was dead, SLED spokeswoman Renée Wunderlich told The State.

The shooting happened early Sunday morning at Cara’s Lounge in Hampton County, Wunderlich said. It’s at 72 Ashley Circle Road in Furman, off US 601.

An “Easter Bash” event featuring music by a DJ and exotic dancers was held at the club on Saturday, according to a Facebook post promoting the event.

Shooting time was not available.

No information on the state of health of the victims was available.

There is no word on a shooter, or shooters, or motive for the shot.

No arrests were reported by SLED. No information was available on whether the shooting is considered an isolated incident or an ongoing threat to the community.

SLED is investigating the shooting at the request of the Hampton County Sheriff’s Office.

The shooting came hours after 14 people were injured in an unrelated shooting at the Columbiana Center mall in Columbia, about 100 miles north of Hampton County.
