Layla Kardan will open a new jazz bar in Abu Dhabi in time for F1

Dinner and show like never before…

Layla Kardan is both the creative mind behind and the headliner of Dubai’s premier cabaret, Papillon. The venue blends the worlds of fine dining and spectacular musical ensembles and it has lit up the touch papers of an entertainment phenomenon in the city. Papillon has often been imitated but never reproduced.

The problem with show business is that, in addition to the fact that there would apparently be no business like this, the show must always go on. And Layla, along with her restaurateur partner Hamdan Al Khafaji, now have their spotlight firmly on a new scene… Abu Dhabi. Located on the waterfront of Yas Marina, the theater of the Riviera, Penelope’s Brasserie & American Jazz Bar is about to revolutionize the nightlife of the capital.

Penelope’s is set to open for the first time during the F1 weekend (from November 17) and will offer a dizzying mix of live jazz, great Gallic gastronomy and Bar Américain style craft cocktails. The entertainment program was co-designed by Eddie Ghazal, the experiential architect responsible for the wonder and whimsy of Dubai’s Canary Club and Tikis rooftop and lounge.

It’s good to be nice

The guiding aesthetic of Penelope’s Brasserie & American Jazz Bar is an art-deco ode to the golden age of cinema on the Côte d’Azur. Spiritual home of the 1950s and 1960s jet set, and favorite destination for style icons like Audrey Hepburn, Serge Gainsbourg, Brigitte Bardot, Mick Jagger and Grace Kelly. Penelope’s invites you to relive this splendor and glamor alongside an authentic tribute to the nomadic jazz circuits of Saint-Tropez, Cannes, Monaco and Nice.

We can’t wait to see what Layla and Hamdan have imagined for this space we were promised “unique” – a paradigm shift in Abu Dhabi performance art. And we believe it. We expect alluring looks, grandstand vocal performances, an immersive atmosphere, a wild costume cast, and mind-blowing Mediterranean cuisine.

Penelope’s will open from November 17, with seating from 6 p.m. daily (lunch times to be confirmed shortly). If you want to be one of the very first to experience it, you can now book tables by phone: (02) 635 1116, WhatsApp (050) 204 2475 or email [email protected]
