How to Connect a Vizio Soundbar to a Samsung TV

Samsung TVs are popular for their sleek design and top-notch picture quality. However, there is one area where they tend to fall short: the audio department.

Samsung TVs’ built-in speakers are often dull, and we can’t blame them. The Korean giant is following the industry trend of producing thinner and sleeker TVs. And as we all know, audio quality is often sacrificed for aesthetics.

That’s where soundbars come in. A soundbar is a long, thin speaker that can greatly improve your TV’s audio quality. It can be a game changer for your home entertainment experience.

If you own a Samsung TV and are looking for a soundbar that will complement it perfectly, you’ve come to the right place. In this article, we are going to show you how to connect a Vizio soundbar to a Samsung TV.

So without further ado, let’s get started.

How do I pair the Vizio soundbar with a Samsung TV?

You can connect your Vizio soundbar to the Samsung TV in two ways: Arc HDMI and optical cable. We recommend an HDMI Arc connection as it provides better sound quality than the optical cable.

Method 1: HDMI connection (Arc)

  • Turn off your Vizio soundbar and your Samsung TV.
  • Now take an HDMI cable and connect one end to the HDMI OUT port of your soundbar.

  • Turn on both devices
  • Change the soundbar’s default input to HDMI
  • Then change the output of your Samsung TV to HDMI
  • Play a video or audio file to check if sound is coming from your Vizio soundbar.

If no sound comes out of the soundbar, you will need to change the “HDMI and digital audio output” to PCM in the expert settings.

Once successfully paired, you can control sound from the soundbar with your TV remote.

Method 2: via optical cable

If your Samsung TV or soundbar does not have an HDMI ARC port, you can connect them using a digital audio output or an optical cable. The steps are similar.

Method 3: Via Bluetooth

You can set up a wireless connection between your soundbar and your TV if they support Bluetooth. The steps are as follows:

  1. Turn on your Vizio soundbar and put it into pairing mode. To do this, long press the Bluetooth button on the soundbar or use the remote control.

Keep in mind that audio quality over Bluetooth is not as good as HDMI.

Method 4: Using RCA cables

You may remember the good old days when we hooked up our TV to external speakers using colored RCA cables.

The good news is that you can still use them to connect your soundbar to the Samsung TV since both have dedicated ports.

However, we only recommend this method as a last resort as the audio quality is not as good as HDMI or optical.

The only thing to remember here is to connect the cables to the correct ports. The red cable goes to the red output jack, while the white goes to the white jack on your Samsung TV.

Wrap

We hope you found this guide helpful and that you were able to connect your Vizio Soundbar to your Samsung TV without any issues. Follow the steps mentioned above and your soundbar will be up and running in no time.

One thing we can’t stress more is that the audio experience from an HDMI (ARC) connection is unmatched by any other method, be it Bluetooth or an optical cable.
