Houston sports bar orders organic cocktails for bountiful happy hour

Savvy foodies were probably already aware of On the Kirb‘s is committed to organic, local and home-cooked food, but how about that home-cooked approach extends to its bar offerings as well?

For new spring cocktails like the Weasley Gin, that means homemade organic cane syrup and fresh strawberries and lemon juice to pair with Bombay Sapphire gin, basil and ginger beer.

A similar situation is found with the Lemon Ginger Basil, which uses the same homemade syrup combined with freshly blended ginger, basil, lemon juice, tonic and Gray Goose Le Citron.

You can try both of these drinks for $7 each during the happiest hour from 4 to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday. During those magic hours, red or white wine is $5 a glass and $16 a bottle, and Texas draft beer is just $5 so you can flaunt your Lone Star State pride in a pint glass.

As a bonus, you can sample some of the scratch kitchen apps, some of which are only available during Happiest Hour. Savor a personal portion of Na’acho Nachos and a smaller Margherita, vegetarian or pepperoni pizza, or tuck into homemade fries with salsa rioja and queso before devouring three of the restaurant’s most popular burgers in slider form.

For $28, nibble on a meat and cheese platter with fresh fruits and grilled vegetables and a bottle of red or white wine, a deal you can only get during this special time.

If you run a little later, head for the reverse happy hour, where all pizza and wine is half price from 10 p.m. And this pizza? It is formed with artisanal Caputo flour imported from Naples, Italy, then fermented for three days to ensure an authentic taste.

There are even several vegan and vegetarian options, not just for the pizza but throughout the menu.

Owner Joe Arbeely opened On the Kirb with the goal of giving sports bar lovers healthier (but still super tasty) options, and the included menu appeals to herbivores and carnivores alike, with meats free of antibiotics and hormones. and organic vegetables.

Combine all of this with great outdoor dining areas at each location, and you have a happy hour situation so enticing you might want to show up every day.

On The Kirb has two locations: 5004 Kirby Dr. in Upper Kirby (713-526-1414) and 2521 Bagby St. in Midtown (281-888-7898).
