Bar up: Dallas bars sold $105 million worth of alcohol in April 2022.

A breakdown of how much money was spent on alcohol at the best bars, clubs, restaurants, venues and hotels in Dallas proper as of April 2022.

Welcome to Bar Raised, our recurring column that proves Texans like to spend a lot of their income partaking in the Great American Pastime. We know this because the Texas Comptroller keeps tabs on this stuff and makes all of this information public. Any state establishment that holds a mixed beverage license must report all sales revenue generated from the sale of liquor, beer, and wine at their establishments on a monthly basis. The Comptroller, in turn, puts all of this information into an easily navigable database, and then we break down the Dallas numbers for you here.

Last month, we dipped into March liquor sales which rounded our first 100 million. By April, the exact total had not only crossed the three-digit threshold, but exceeded it by $5 million. Savage.

Unless the pandemic hits bad business closure levels again (knock on wood), Bar Raised will continue to see triple digits, perhaps without the slower months like February, August and November. . Dallas has come a long way since the first Bar Raised in May 2015, in which the city spent $59 million on booze, a 75% increase by then.

Since we’re already comparing May 15 to April 22, it’s interesting to see how many big spenders haven’t moved on the top 20 list. American Airlines Center, Omni Dallas Convention Center, Katy Trail Ice House, The Ritz-Carlton, Hilton Anatole, Nick & Sam’s and the Sheraton still dominate seven years later. And the world in 2015 was a world without Dallas’ Bottled Blonde – it wasn’t until 2017 that Deep Ellum’s favorite opened up and began his reign on the list. However, below you’ll find that instead of his usual top five ranking, he’s dropped all the way to twentieth.

We don’t know what happened with this place in April. It regularly brings in a million dollars every month, but this time it brought in just under six hundred thousand. Another hot spot on the list is Carbone, an upscale Italian restaurant that opened its Dallas location in April. That’s a profit of $868,204 on alcohol alone, which clearly indicates that it was a success. In addition, he is being sued by an Oak Lawn restaurant with an almost identical name, Carbone’s. The lawsuit alleges Carbone tries to confuse customers with the name, even though the restaurant opened in New York in 2013 and is named after chef and co-owner Mario Carbone.
