A new entertainment bar will open soon in Shelby County

SHELBINA, Mo. (WGEM) – A piano bar in Shelbina, Missouri is expected to draw foot traffic to the rural area.

Owner Blake Totten said he wanted Legend’s Honky Tonk to be a place where people can come for live musical entertainment and drinks.

He said a business like this does not currently exist in Shelby County and hopes it can bring something new to the community.

“I really wanted to bring something fun to my community. We don’t have much to do here. We don’t have a lot of entertainment, or a nice place where we can go hang out, have a drink, hang out and listen to live music,” Totten said.

Totten said he wanted to have two pianos at the bar, bingo nights, trivia games and karaoke.

Totten and his family have worked at the bar since January.

He said inflation and licensing had delayed the desired opening date.

As a result, Totten had to do a lot of work on the bar himself.

“I did almost everything myself, with the help of my friends and family, when they were available to help me. It’s been a process, but we’re getting there,” Totten said.

Legend’s Honky Tonk still requires a liquor license and building inspections.

After that, Totten said he would be ready to open his bar for the community to enjoy.

Shelbina City Clerk Tim Lacy said he hopes it will bring more people from out of town to Shelbina.
